iptables

Are you doing lowercase P or uppercase??

You should be doing uppercase P, however your error you indicate has it
lowercase.

It should be iptables -P INPUT DROP
(uppercase P)

If it still doesnt work, please copy and paste the EXACT error message..

trying to set the default policy on the input chain to
drop in RH9 
 tried  iptables -P INPUT DROP
        iptables -P INPUT -j DROP

gives an errors in relation to the "-p INPUT"
  like bad argument, built in chain

will allow me to add rules but won't allo me to set
default policy.....any ideas
