USB mouse and keyboard

what kind of mouse do you have? is it a wheel mouse? i know that every
version of X i have used (up to the current) does _not_ play well with
my kvm (which is a linksys). if X starts as the current display, its
fine until i switch. sometimes if, after X goes all screwy, i restart
GDM, things work again (until the next switch). sometimes not.
