Fired for promoting linux

Heres an article i found on slashdot that would now make me not buy hp 
products. HP fired a senior strategist for open-source software, because 
he was promoting linux and opensource over microsoft. (well is this what 
he is supposed anyway? senior strategist for open-source software)
