Joe,
I could take a look for you at the kernel source for the driver you're
looking for. There is plenty of ways to build a kernel on another machine to
get yours up in running. Let me know if you need a hand.

I would be excited if I thought it was a solution --- The wierd thing is
the piece of hardware that is giving me the fits is at least 7 years old.
I'm sure there is support for it, (dead sea scroll on the net show support
as far back as v 5.x) it's just that it may no longer be a part of the
shipping kernel! I picked up a 7.1 RH distribution from Compaq for the
Alpha but it comes up short (does not "see the controller"). I'm sure there
is a way, today I picked up a secondary SCSI hard drive to play with
tonight, to plug into the on board SCSI controller...I'll keep you posted.
