Real Player 8

What XWindow Manager are you using?  I know that KDE likes to use Artds
for sound.  This might be causing a conflict if Real Player is trying to
use something like OSS or Esound.  You can go into the ReaPlayer 8
preferences & select which sound driver you want it to use.
