agree with the below statements -- Here is one solution -- Why cant the
"hardcore" linux people hold an additional meeting either at a different
location or on the Second Sunday of the month at the towers. I am
willing to hold meetings somewhere in my hometown (I have access to my
Firehall, Depew High School, and a few other places for meetings) more
often (Depew), which would be closer for people at Cheetktowaga,
Williamsville, Lancaster, and Depew (obviously) if
needed.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

meeting<BR><BR></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG> Well
there's something going on at the convention center (Computer Show and
Sale?) this weekend Friday to Sunday and parking will be a problem. To say
the least trying to bring equipment to the meeting will be not easy,
but not impossible (weather permitting!) </STRONG></FONT><FONT
size=2><STRONG>I think with the weather being a problem and parking issue,
I think I'll pass on bring the unit with Mandrake 8.0 on it with me.
</STRONG></FONT><FONT size=2><STRONG>Well I was only thinking of taking it
to the meeting to have someone to show me a few tricks on how to get
all the updates and patches for it. </STRONG></FONT><FONT
size=2><STRONG>It has a NIC so if we where connected to the internet (via
T1 line at the meeting room) I could do a run through and learn the little
tricks involved. </STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG>I also have a question and opinions.
</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG> I'm just
voicing my opinions, but are we going to do as mentioned. (below in
quotes) I know how you guys like to do your frag fest matches and that's
fine, But I think that what every part of the general population that
is interested in Linux and may seek us out in time. Also
we need to make sure that we are doing are best to advocate
Linux and question...Are? people are going away saying that I
learned something. </STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=4><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=4><STRONG>
"</STRONG></FONT><FONT size=3>A ideas for presentations, I would very much
like to see a set up and USE of NIS. Examples. Exactly how do
I setup the maps, what about adding users, changing passwords, changing
home location from local to NFS, changing profiles, all the standard admin
type things. I can bring at a minimum the server box if others can
bring machines to act as clients...</FONT><STRONG><FONT
size=4>"</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><STRONG>
Also I think that we should start passing out a single sheet or
better with information on the topic. Like where to find, how to
do, web sites and so on. Most of this information (if not
all) is on the web, and a cut and paste is all it takes. I think
that just a short presentation does not do justice to the advocating of
Linux. We have to understand that not everybody is
at the same level and that we need to present
Linux to the masses better than as we have been doing so far.
