the first error seems like an X error..
what user are you running it as?

try running a simple X windows program instead of mythfrontend (like
xeyes..etc..)
and make sure that it works..

also, the error seems to indicate that you are trying to run it form a
remote host? is that the case?
You may have your DISPLAY environment variable set wrong..again, running
a simple x app like xeyes
will tell you that..

for the next part, what tuner card do you have?

hey guys can't make it meetings 'cause I work on
sundays
anyway trying to get that mythtv thing working

compiled ok

but, getting an error when trying to launch

./mythfrontend

Probed: /dev/video - S-Video
Probed: /dev/video - Composite3
default is defined, but isn't attached to a cardinput.
Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
strange error flushing buffer ...

I put a splitter on 
cable modem sync's 
but i'm not sure if the card is getting signal

looked for help in all the usual places
faq's google messages boards 

I know some of you guys have been working on this
project and any  help would be greatly appreciated.

ps how 'bout weeknight meetings
I ain't no guru, but am capable of helping those
new to linux w/ some tips & tricks
