Hi Darin,

Thanks for your warm-heart help! However I've already changed the registry to
enalbe the encrypted password. I just don't know what the use of Revalidate is
in smb.conf.

Kellie

have you enabled plain text password on the windows machines? starting
with win98 M$ switched to using encrypted password so you'll have to
hack on the registry to fix the problem.

here's the keys you'll need to add for all those lovely os's:

windows nt
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rdr\Parameters
Add a new DWORD value: Value Name: EnablePlainTextPassword Data:
  0x01

windwos 2000
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkStation\Parameters

Add a new DWORD value: Value Name: EnablePlainTextPassword Data: 0x01

win 9x
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP Add a
new DWORD value: Value Name: EnablePlainTextPassword Data:
  0x01
