Quake

I'm trying to get quake running on my 1 machine, in preparation for the
next lug (your going down Meyer!).

When trying to use xf86quake, I keep on getting this error message:

Error: Minimum required VidMode extension version is 0.4

Anybody have some clue as to what this message means?
