LFS

Alright I'm lazy )or efficient) and I clicked reply instead of delete to avoid
having to type your name again :-)

I tried to get some interest IN LFS a few months back (obviously before
MandRAKE 8.1) The biggest reason I had for getting others involved was I knew
so little and would get stuck a lot. The new version of LFS and the
documentation and the newsgroups are far better than when I first looked at it.

It really now makes you feel comfortable giving it a whirl. I downloaded the
book and packages and the hints and faqs (love broadband) last night and was
reading 'til late. I will either turn my laptop into a LFS box or my server
(which is running Mandrake 8.1 but still is locking for no apparent reason.) I
love the clear descriptions of every command, why it's needed, and what every
package contains. I would use my Windows box which I wanred my wife was going
to become dual-boot and she should get ready to learn to use Linux for papers
ad e-mail and chatting. But I am sure I can get Mandrake running faster. I
just have very little confidence in my own ability to fix a problem in LFS than
goiing to Mandrake User.org and looking it up.

I am very interested in the new BLFS that seems to answer the question "Now
what?" I want to know If all my packages I've come to expect in my distro
(Netscape, KDE2, StarOffice etc.) will work.

Keep us informed of how you LFS install performs and anything that was unique
to you.
