MTU

Does anybody know how to configure the MTU setting on eth0 (preferablly on
boot, not just a one time occurance).

I tried modifying the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file with
a MTU=1492 entry, but it didn't seem to have the success that I was
looking for.
