Java for Linux?

John,

Someone asked the list or me about Java for Linux. I told them you
had looked into Blackdown and were the local expert. Did you
download and/or install it? Can you run Netscape Communicator
4.7 with Java enabled?

I'd like to install Java if reasonably stable. I don't care whether I
can successfully enable it for Netscape, but would just like to be
able to play with the language.

I'm sure others have similar questions. I put the Blackdown site
on our links page, but would you please give us a status report
on Java under Linux?
