i used to authenticate with plain text using the first part of the email address and the same password, now it doesnt work like that apparently<BR>

Mmmm, what ISP allows this normally? I thought that was the general
rule, to send mail you have to actually be on(or autheticate to) the
network you are trying to use their SMTP server.
