Does it come up in text mode and ask you to login then you get bash?
ok how familiar are you with editing files? there is a file /etc/inittab
if you type the command (from bash):
cat /etc/inittab |grep initdefault
you should see:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
id:5:initdefault:
make sure it says id:5:initdefault this means it will boot into runlevel 5
(gui) by default. If that is 3 then it will boot command. Let me know what
it says if it's 3 then I'll tell you how to change it...
