not s much of a nightmare as u'd think,  once u get the OS installed on the right drives. (boot drives are /dev/sdy and /dev/sdac,  why the hell the boot controller is the 3rd one, and not the first is beyond me)

The "thumper" is a sweet little box, 4Tb within 4U's of rack space! It's 
was basically designed for ZFS, managing 48 disks within a single 
machine without it would be a nightmare.
