[nflug] vmware player bsod

If your windows made if further, that's a good sign..

It just means you need to change some more drivers (it made it past one, and
is now crapping out on another driver for hardware..)

Except for the first time, indeed. That last reference did seem to apply
to my problem with the # If the internal name is halacpi.dll, this
problem affects you. part, so I followed those directions and all seemed
to go well. But now I just have a bsod that takes a few more clicks to
get to. ;-)

The part there that I don't understand is how the files off the cd
renamed to
VMOSKRNL.EXE and VMHAL.DLL are supposed to act any differently than the
ones that are already there for the regular sys. By now I'm getting all
sorts of popups and errors about the ide driver in the vmware profile, too.

Still hacking for the moment.

From what I understand, the converter needs space on the hard drive
which I don't have, but I could be wrong about that. I'm thinking that
could get ugly here, since the os is on c: and most of the programs are
on g:, but I don't know much about that either, except that it seemed
like a good way to set things up a few years ago when I did it.

Thanks,
S.
