If you liked ddwrt, you might be interested in the openwrt project 
(http://www.openwrt.org) as well.  I liked this distro a bit better than 
ddwrt and it has a great developer community behind it.

The new branch of this project (which isn't stable yet) is working on a 
distro for embedded devices that runs the 2.6 kernel.  I'm running the 
White Russian (older "stable" version with 2.4 kernel) on a Buffalo HP 
wireless access point/router and it is fantastic.

Anyway, great to see that people on the list have found this exciting 
area of linux development. :)
