That can very easily be done except for one huge problem. When it tries 
to load, it will detect new controllers and such (vmware's) and 
completely shit the bed (BSOD) because of course, your stealing windows. 
Work around, do one install of windows in vmware, then just copy as you 
will, once you have a copy of windows installed in vmware, you can go 
from machine to machine with it because at that point, it's virtually 
hardware ID free, because it will always be under vmware's hardware 
instead of the actual hardware on the pc's. You could do imaging into a 
vmware workstation with 95, 98, 2000, Linux, probably mac  (never tried 
mac's) but not xp with it's hardware id's stuffed everywhere. Just do 
one install and you'll be set.
