[nflug] mouse failure with xserver

hi I have been trying get my xserver running ...it keeps complaining 
that it cannot find the mouse device ...I gone through dpkg-reconfigure 
xserver-xorg about 15 times trying to pick /dev/psaux with PS/2 mouse,  
I tried the USB mouse configuration when I do not even have a usb mouse 
and xserver starts up, but LOL with no mouse or keyboard working, any clues?
