as mark said, i'd go with a 2 server minimum, one for apache and a 
second for mysql. for your mysql server any baseline dell server with a 
512+ memory will be more than enough. pretty much the same for the 
apache server as well, but you might kick up the memory a bit. save your 
money on the scsi drives and xeon chips for another apache server if you 
need it.

i just setup a mysql server for a friends online dating site, 1x2.4GHz 
P4, 2Gb memory, plus one replication machine in a HA setup. there are 6 
apache server in front of it and they see about 30K+ hits daily. the 
mysql server doesn't even blink an eye and is screaming fast.
