Friends:

I'm in the market for a Bluetooth USB dongle. Here are my requirements:
1.	Bluetooth 2.0 standard
(I don't want to obsolesce myself if I can pay a few bucks more)
2.	Brand name definitely preferred
(I find a few more bucks makes a difference especially with wireless
devices, and it's definitely worth it.)
3.	Must be Linux friendly
Can I be reasonably assured that pretty much any such device will play
nice with the Penguin natively, or, as in the world of wireless PC
cards, for instance, are there devices that will positively work,
positively not work, and work with provided Windows drivers a la
ndiswrapper? (I would, of course, prefer the first of these.)

After that, two other issues. I'm inclined to get Class 1 range. I'm
not as concerned about security as with range quality. Is there any
particular reason other than security, added expense, or reducing the
range of unwanted Bluetooth devices (none of my neighbors, to the best
of my knoweldge, even have any Bluetooth devices that would compete with
my theoretical piconet) to go for Class 2? Perhaps there are issues
with interference from things like wireless phones and microwave ovens.
Also, what's the best place to look for one? None of the local or
Web-based retailers that I have checked out seem to even have these
dongles (tho admittedly I haven't made too great an effort at that), and
all Ebay seems to offer is no-name items shipped from lands far away.

I'm going to use this dongle to sync my cell phone address book and
such, and want to be able to use the phone as a modem in case I need
Internet access and there's no LAN to use. I'd also like to experiment
with Skype, tho not interested in using it as my land-line (LAN line?)
phone service: I've heard that the quality is not that great, and I've
been locked into Vonage for a year anyway. (They did give me a
BRAND-NAME wireless router after all.) If I win the lottery, I may also
want to get Bluetooth headphones.

As always, any insight is appreciated.
