We also have a HUGE SAN now at our corporate Data Center (multiplt T of Data)
and it is all SAN HP equipment with racks of drives - again your GIS folks said
they don't "like" NAS - they are only going to "like" something in the multiple
100K range!

I was a big proponent of slapping NAS boxes on the network but now that we've
had SAN for a few years I am a big fan of it - we have fiber connected SANS in
seperate buildings with fail over and redundandcy - the works.  BUT boy oh boy
2-3 K would barely buy a few drives and some hba's to stick in the servers!
