Get a provider that allows you to connect your
asterisk box or adapter.
Broadvoice,TeleSip,Voicepulse,Nufone(they don't offer
local phone numbers) or others. The whole problem w/
Vonage and the like is they give you a locked device
trying to lock you into their service. And isn't this
what you're trying to get away from? This is M$
thinking and should be avoided. At
http://voip-info.org they have an extensive list of
how to connect to all providers. If you need any help
connecting your asterisk box I'd be happy to help. And
by the way, I am able to connect to 911 and I have
only DSL service from Verizon. Any home, whether there
is an occupant/subscriber or not, is able to connect
to 911. The line has to be live for emergencies.
