When my son logs in I want his X session to be 640X480 256 colors but I want
mine to be 1024X768 16bit.

Where Can I set these per user settings? Or is X server system dependent and
not user. I use KDM but can switch to any. (I know I can set these in XF86conf
and use +- but I want it to happen automatically)

I figured out how to use multiple machines with WMaker and have different
menus. I have different apps on my old debian laptop from my New Mandrake
machine so I had to create multiple GNUstep.<something> folders in my ~/ dir.
Thsi way I coudl set a system ENV variable GNUSTEP_USER_ROOT and set it to the
system GNUSTEP I wanted to use. ~/GNUstep.Man for mandrake ~/GNUstep.deb for
debian. Works OK. Had to copy my mandrake WM system menu back manually intot
he root gnustep folder but seems to be working. That's one problem of having
multiple systems and a home dir with all app settings....
