wow, many many topics,

1. FC3 comes with a newer GNOME and stuff like haldaemon, LVM. LVM was 
actually around for a long time.
2. Having a server would give you one point of access/control and yes it 
could act as a router/gateway, dhcp server and nfs server.
3. With NFS you can assign what machine is served what and they get 
mounted just like there on that workstation, it's very cool, very fast 
and very stable, as well as very controllable.
