Subject: [linuxl] Job Opening: UNIX Systems Programmer

Systems Programmer - UNIX


Buffalo State will receive applications for a Systems Programmer. Salary range is $32-45,000. Position will assist senior staff in the setup, development, testing, implementation and management of UNIX-based servers to support administrative and academic functions.


Required Qualifications: Four-year degree in computing information systems (CIS) or related field, OR a two-year degree in CIS or related field and two to three years post-degree professional experience. Minimum two years full-time UNIX system management experience including operating system installation. Strong knowledge of at least three of the following: COMPAQ Tru64 UNIX, Linux, Windows 2000/2003 server, MAC OSX, Windows XP. Good communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications: COMPAQ Tru64 UNIX and RedHat Linux system management skills. PROXY and LISTSERVER management experience. Good knowledge of networking and TCPIP concepts. Administration experience with DNS and DHCP services. Good troubleshooting skills. MAC OSX experience. Work experience in educational environment.
