rpmbuild and dependencies

hi,

i'm building the package 'sophie' which is dependant on sophos
anti-virus libsavi. the package builds fine but it does a dependency
check for libsavi.so, libsavi is not installed as an rpm so it's not
listed in the rpm databases.

is there a way to get around this, other then installing with --nodeps?
ideally what i'd like to do if possible is define a %pre that checks for
libsavi.so in the usual lib locations, if the %pre fails it doesn't
install and kicks up the "Failed dependencies" error, if %pre passes it
installs. you could always force the install with --nodeps and or --force.

thanks
