Mandrake 10 install errors

I don't think it's the media. I've put Red Hat 9 on here also and had no
problems at all. But, I will try burning it again...hopefully that'll help.

I don't think Mandrake has a "check the disk" option. At least not one that
I found.

Sounds like your media is bad, try burning the CDs again, or maybe
just cleaning them. If they're clean, and a fresh burn doesn't solve
it, then your drive itself may have issues.

Installed Mandrake 10 tonight, and I don't know if this is normal or
not, but I got a lot of errors while I was installing it. This is the
message that I got.

"There was an error installing packages:

OpenOffice.org-libs-1.1-11mdk.i586

Go on anyway?"

And I got the same message for the following packages also:

"eog-2.4.1-1mdk.1586"

"xine-plugins-1-0.rc3.6mdk.i586"

"libkoffice2-1-1.3-12mdk.i586"

"gimp-1.2.5-10mdk.1586"

"XFree86-75dpi-fonts-4.3-30mdk.i586"

"armagetron-0.2.5.2-1mdk.i586"

First off, is this normal to receive this many errors during an
install? Would it help if I did the text-based install instead of the
GUI install? Also, for some reason I can't open up the OpenOffice
writer, and I'm assuming it's because of the error I received during
install. Are these things that can be fixed?

Thanks for help, guys.

Chris
