Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router

Hello,

You have a few options....

First, if you already have an existing Linksys router that has a built in
four port switch you should purchase the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless A+G
Access Point (part # WAP55AG). You can plug the access point into an
available port on your existing router, keep your RedHat box hard wired and
provide wireless connectivity to the rest of your computers.

The second option is to purchase the new LinkSys Wireless-G VPN Broadband
Router (part # WRV54G). It's dual band wireless, has a built in four port
switch and offers remote VPN access to your home network. If you get this
unit you wont need your old LinkSys router anymore.

Hope this helps!

I would rather keep my Redhat box on rj45 because its a mail and web server
and have the rest of the 4 boxes on wireless. Is there a way of buying a
wireless router/switch that connects my existing linksys router Can you
actually do that type of combination or do you need the Wireless G?

I am thinking about buying a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router on sale for
70.00 to use with my Redhat boxes at home. I want to get rid of all the
cabling running everwhere in the house. My girlfriend keeps nagging me about
it. . The router has built in switch and works with both standards existing
infrastructure, and Wireless-G standard. Has anyone used this before with
Linux? Any suggestions on wireless cards that are Redhat compatable? Thanks

You can alway get a wireless bridge for the linux box. That way you keep you
current ethernet card and run a patch to the bridge.
