iso's on dvd

I know with the new version of XCdroast you can burn dvds. Can you install Linux from dvd? or does it have to be on cd? I would rather burn the isos on 1 dvd then have seperate cds.

I started playing with that but never got a chance to finish, I think 
the biggie is instead of using cdrecord you would use dvdrecord, check 
the man page on that.
