Go to freshmeat.net and do a search on 'system rescue'.  There are a myriad of
CDs that can be booted to be able to read messed up hard drives.  You will only
have a problem if it's an NTFS file system.  Make sure that the rescue CD image
that you choose supports the new NFTS stuff.
