> I installed the jdk1.2.2_14 java on Redhat 8.0. I want to be able to run java without going to /usr/local/jdk1.2.2./ all the time and am trying to learn java and refuse to use winblows. In the instructions from Sun it says to PATH variable to PATH=/usr/local/jdk1.2.2./bin:$PATH in the ~/.profile file. I set it in the .bash_profile and do export and it works but after I close my bash sell the variable path is lost and I have to export PATH=/usr/local/jdk1.2.2./bin:$PATH every time I want to run java. Does anyone know how to get this to run wthout always doing the export? Does Redhat 8.0 have the .profile? I tried doing ls -a to list hidden files but I dont see it anywhere? Any suggestions Thanks! << File: snapshot4.png >> << File: snapshot5.png >>
