Odd. My Dad's old Gateway 17" used to do the same thing under Win98. I 
never did get a chance to find out why because a CATV tech somehow fried 
it. Naturally, Win98 itself provided no clues. Since the monitor had the 
same behavior under Slackware and SuSE, I decided that maybe it was a 
hardware method to prevent burn-in. I have no way to prove that idea 
though; it was years ago and it would only shift a few pixels at a time.
Ideas anyone?
