That's the miniHowto on LILO.

One thing to remember about LILO as opposed to GRUB, is that after you
make a change in LILO you have to issue the command "lilo" at the
command prompt to make the changes take effect.

I don't know anything about Slackware, but configuring LILO I would
imagine is not affected by distribution.
