Not from what I see.  The Font Server checks the file /etc/X11/fs/config
for font paths.  You can always add $HOME/fonts to the list if you wish.

Or you can modify /etc/X11/XF86Config, and add your custom font path after
the unix/:7100 line.

Both should tell the X Server where to find your custom font path.
