Welcome!  Hope you enjoyed the meeting.  Good places to start 
learning about linux are www.linuxdox.org (there's a mirror site at 
UB) and just about any of the O'Reilly "animal" books dealing w/ 
Linux/Unix.  I personally have found that between "Running Linux" and 
"Essential System Administration", there's not much that you can't 
figure out, or at least have a good idea what questions to ask.
