Make sure you are using the Mandrake 8.1 when you are trying to &quot;chroot /mnt&quot; from the rescue prompt. I don't believe the other releases supported that, I could be wrong though. It also appears that it is not supported in the new 8.2, I just started using it and noticed that the rescue boot is different from the 8.2 cd.
