seems like IBM is getting to us (my employer, that is)...

Just wanted to let anyone know that EDS (Electronic Data Systems) has added
Linux to it's list of supported operating systems, and has started a
training program for internal support personnel, management, and sales as
well. This course IS NOT a dummies course, and is tailored to the needs of
it's pupils (the sales guys learn how to sell it, management learns how to
do something (whatever management actually does :), and support and design
personnel learn the ins and outs, from a basic level to a very advanced
level. These courses are being offered to all employees in the
organization. Seems like IBM (our biggest competitor) has gotten to upper
management. I'm glad they've started this though. I know this doesn't
affect anyone, but when any company, especially one with the clout that EDS
(or IBM) has, it's a good thing for the community and open source in
general. EDS still thinks Windows for the desktop and Unix for high
availability servers and large clusters, but everything in between has been
labeled "fair game" for Linux. A business case no longer needs to be made,
and Linux can be used on high end workstations, web servers, mail servers
(goodbye Exchange!!!), and small to medium size clusters and
application/database servers. We can use Debian, TurboLinux, Caldera
OpenDesktop and Server, RedHat, and FreeBSD/NetBSD as stated. I'm in heaven
(almost)...
