solaris is sun microsystems version/flavor of Unix. version 7, also
known as solaris 2.7, and SunOS 5.7 has been around for a number of
years. solaris 8 is there lastest release and has been avialable for
about 2 years now, solaris 9, which will include gnome as the default
desktop is in Early Release (beta). solaris 8 for sparc and x86 can be
downloaded from sun's web site for free, it's 3 cd's.
