Thrashing

OK, my turn to comment... First of all, I've NEVER had netscape start
thrashing. I HAVE had it hang and hang the display but not in a long
while. I've been running with at least 128 Meg of memory for a while
now (up to 192 at this point :-). I also have Java turned off but
javascript turned on (only way to make yahoo mail work) so there could
be a problem in the Java runtime that's distributed with netscape.

The only wierd thing that it does to me is to hang netscape. It
doesn't hang the screen so I can simply poke the 'xkill' icon that I
keep on my desktop for just such an occasion.

Come to think of it, I have had laptops with only 48 meg on them and
have never experienced this thrashing. Point to note: I ALWAYS turn
off Java and frequently turn off JavaScript.

The next stage of the troubleshooting process is to note the web page
that you were visiting when the thing went rogue and determine if it
happens every time you visit it. Then turn off Java and see if it
makes a difference. "Your milage may vary. Offer void where
prohibited. No purchase necessary. Operators are standing by..."
